‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’: Release Date Confirmed for ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Spin-Off Series

The upcoming spin-off of the hugely popular sitcom “The Big Bang Theory” has finally got its release date.

“Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” will follow a number of supporting characters from its parent show, with Kevin Sussman’s hapless Stuart Bloom as its star.

Per IMDb, the show’s synopsis is as follows: “Comic book store owner Stuart Bloom from The Big Bang Theory (2007) returns in a new series where he attempts – and apparently fails – to save the universe, staying true to his unlucky nature.”

The announcement regarding the release date was made as the show’s cast appeared on a panel at CCXP Mexico City on Sunday, April 26.


‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’ Is Coming to HBO Max in July

Per Variety, the announcement at CCXP Mexico City confirms “The Big Bang Theory” spin-off series “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” will be available to stream on HBO Max starting this July.

The exact date of release isn’t confirmed, but the fact the show is only a couple of months away is great news for sitcom lovers everywhere.

In addition to star Kevin Sussman, the show will feature “The Big Bang Theory” cast members Brian Posehn as Bert Kibbler, Lauren Lapkus as Denise, and John Ross Bowie as Barry Kripke.

Joining them will be Ryan Cartwright as Kyle, Josh Brener as Trevor, and Tommy Walker as Gary. Cartwright and Brener had previously played different characters, Cole and Dale, respectively, in episodes of “The Big Bang Theory.”

The panel also revealed that the series’ original theme music will be created by Emmy and Grammy Award winner, and Academy Award-nominated composer, Danny Elfman. Elfman is best known for his work on various Tim Burton movies, such as “Beetlejuice,” “Batman,” “Edward Scissorhands,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and “Corpse Bride.” Elfman also composed the famous theme tune to “The Simpsons” and, more recently, that of “Wednesday” (per IMDb).


Filming Officially Wrapped at the Start of February

Filming officially wrapped on “Stuart Fails to Save the Universe” on February 1 this year. Star Kevin Sussman posted about it on his Instagram account.

It triggered a lively response in the comments section from his followers, which included fellow cast members and excited fans.

“The Big Bang Theory” star Kunal Nayyar wrote, “Congrats!!! Love you guys!”

Co-star Lauren Lapkus said, “We did it!!!! 🤸🤸🤸”

Another co-star, Tommy Walker, commented, “Magic. Love you dude ❤️👊🏻.”
