Just when we thought Baby (the Impala) was parked for good, âSupernaturalâ fans are getting a surprise return; and no, itâs not another reboot or multiverse twist. Instead, Sam and Dean Winchester are back in a brand-new comic book series from Dynamite Entertainment. And the best part of all? Itâs due for release in October 2025.
The new comic series, aptly titled âSupernatural,â throws it back to the early days of the show, with stories âset between the foundational first and second seasons of the revered Warner Bros. Television series.â Weâre talking salt circles, EMF detectors, and the boys still reeling from their momâs death; the raw, gritty âSupernatural” that hooked fans from the start.
Brand New Hunts Between Old Episodes
This isn’t a direct continuation of the show, and it’s definitely not just the CW’s âThe Winchesters” prequel slapped into panels. These are never-before-revealed case files from the Winchesters’ early years.
According to Dynamite, the series features âbrand new talesâ of âthe bickering brothersâ out there âprowling the highways and byways of small-town Americaâ to take down ghosts, demons, and things that definitely go bump in the night. So, the boys will still be hunting monsters and dodging emotional trauma like itâs their job. Because⦠it is.
The first case? A decaying rust belt town plagued by a string of suspicious fires. A local factory burns down with workers going up in flames. And the CEO? Heâs a little too ready for it all. Sounds like a job for Sam and Dean⦠just another Tuesday, really.
The Creative Team: Deep Fandom Energy
Known for his work on âDarth Vaderâ and âLilo & Stitch,â Greg Pak is writing the series, and heâs fully leaning into the monster-hunting-meets-family-tragedy vibe. âLook, I was hooked with the ghosts, but Iâm all in,â Pak says in the press release. âWeâre going for fun and grounded, and then weâre going to absolutely cut loose.â
Heâs joined by artist Eder Messias (âSam Wilson: Captain Americaâ), who admitted he almost fell out of his chair when offered the gig. âIt is by far my favorite television series,â Messias said. âIâm looking forward to bringing this story to fans and giving it my best!â
Weâre also getting moody, cinematic covers from Clayton Crain, David Cousens, Messias himself; plus special photo variants from the show.
With strong creative talent and classic âSupernaturalâ energy, this comic series is shaping up to be more than just a nostalgia trip. It’s another chance to ride shotgun with the boys. Dynamite didnât say how long this series will run, but if fans show up (and letâs be real; we will), thereâs room for a whole lot more monster-of-the-week mayhem.
Letâs just hope they bring the rock salt.
