Netflix has just revealed the ten most-watched TV series of 2026, and a surprise thriller has taken the number one spot.
According to Netflix (or the people working at Tudum), the biggest show of the year so far is His and Hers.
An adaptation of Alice Feeney’s novel of the same name, this psychological thriller stars Tessa Thompson as Anna and Jon Bernthal as Jack, her estranged husband.
When Anna hears that a dead body has been found in her sleepy hometown, however, she and Jack are drawn back together as they investigate the bizarre crime.
104 million people have tuned in to watch Anna and Jack’s adventure since it was released on January 8, including several critics who were impressed by what they saw.

His and Hers has a not-too-shabby 71% on Rotten Tomatoes, with Lucy Mangan in The Guardian branding it ‘ideal new year TV’ and ‘twisty, absurd and bingeable’.

David Opie at Tech Advisor was similarly impressed, writing: ‘There’s nothing here you haven’t seen before, but His & Hers is worth watching nonetheless.
‘In large part, that’s thanks to superstars Tessa Thompson and Jon Bernthal who elevate the writing and ground every twist, no matter how absurd things get.’
Not everyone’s in love with it, however. Rodrigo Perez at The Playlist
said, ‘It’s captivating in a surface-level way, but given there’s no real substance underneath, it all starts to feel like a very shallow grave after a while.’
After His and Hers, the most-watched series was Bridgerton series four, which notched up 100 million views, while Harlan Coben’s I Will Find You took the third spot with 63.9 million views.
Interestingly, Stranger Things season five was fourth, which may surprise some readers considering it’s arguably Netflix’s biggest series, but according to Deadline, that’s because of the way Netflix calculates viewing figures.
All in all, Stranger Things season five reached over 137 million views, which makes it the fourth biggest English-language show ever released on Netflix, just behind Stranger Things season four.
For context, His and Hers is only the tenth most viewed English-language show ever made.

Still, Stranger Things’ final season wasn’t quite the home run hit Netflix was hoping for.
The show got mixed reviews from critics who praised the show’s performances but felt some of the story choices let the series down.
Rounding out the top five was another Harlan Coben show, Run Away, which attracted 50 million views.
His and Hers is available to watch on Netflix now.
