A suspect has reportedly been taken into custody after shots were fired outside Chris Brown’s mansion in Los Angeles.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon, with law enforcement called to the street outside the singer’s home in Tarzana at around 4pm.

According to TMZ, a female caller reported that a shooting had just happened, describing the suspect as a Black male, approximately 35 years old, who allegedly fired at her vehicle.

Dispatch audio obtained by the outlet also hears authorities being sent out to Brown’s address.

Upon arriving at the scene, both parties were reportedly questioned. The suspect claimed that an argument broke out when the woman refused to leave the area.

He said he fired at her car after she allegedly drove over his foot.

The man was taken into custody and arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism. He is currently being held on a $50,000 (£36.8k) bail.

It has been confirmed that the American musician is not the suspect detained, nor is he thought to have been involved.

Brown, 36, is not believed to have been home at the time, although this is unclear.

Issuing an official statement, the Los Angeles Police Department told Complex this weekend: ‘Yesterday around 4:11, LAPD officers from the West Valley division responded to the 19600 block of Citrus Ridge Drive to reports of a shooting that had just occurred.’

The suspect is reported to have brandished a ‘CO2-style weapon’.

Meanwhile, the incident comes ahead of Brown’s new album release. His 12th album, titled Brown, will land on May 8.

On June 26, he and Usher will embark on their joint R&B Tour across 33 dates, beginning in Denver and concluding in Tampa on December 12.

Brown was permitted to return to the US in late 2025 after his own bail conditions were granted in a trial for what prosecutors said was an ‘unprovoked’ alleged bottle attack at a London nightclub three years ago.

He had already been ordered to pay a £5million security fee, which serves as a financial guarantee to ensure a defendant (Brown) returns to court. It may be forfeited if they breach bail conditions.

The performer pleaded not guilty to his charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm to Abraham Diaw at the Tape venue, a private members’ club in Hanover Square, Mayfair, on February 19, 2023.

He also denied having an offensive weapon – a bottle – in a public place, as well as attempting to cause grievous bodily harm.

Following his brief jail stint, Brown proceeded to poke fun at the whole thing as he performed with his Breezy Bowl XX tour at the Co-op Live Arena, staging a comeback in the city where he was locked up.

‘I just want to tell you all, I love you all to death. I am so thankful that I could come out here tonight,’ he told the crowd.

‘Thank you all for having me and supporting me, and thank you to the jail, y’all was really nice.’
