Sylvester Stallone Gushes Over Hulk Hogan in Video Interview After His Passing

Sylvester Stallone and Hulk Hogan

Sylvester Stallone is opening up after the tragic news of WWE icon Hulk Hogan’s passing.

The Rocky star spoke with TMZ via video, which was posted on Friday, June 25.

Host Harvey Levin mentioned how Hogan was very proud of being in “Rocky III” with Stallone.

The 79-year-old recalled how Hogan was during the filming.

“He just came in, and you knew this guy had a glow about him,” Stallone said of Hogan. “He was a force to be reckoned with.”

Stallone added that Hogan was just starting off his soon-to-be-impressive career.

“This fellow was very, he was just at the beginning of his career,” he added. “He hadn’t quite come into his own yet, so we got him at a point where he was so enthusiastic.”

He added that at the time, he believed the WWE legend was about 315 pounds. He added how even though he was big, he was incredibly smart.

“He had his deep, calming voice, and he was willing to do anything that would make the show better,” he added.

Hogan Wasn’t the First Choice for the Role

Stallone also revealed that Hogan wasn’t everyone’s first pick to join the production of the 1982 film.

“Now, no one at first, no one wanted him because he was too big,” he told Levin.

Stallone continued, “Now, at first no one wanted him because he was too big, but I said, ‘That’s the whole point, it’s like David and Goliath.’ The bigger the better, so he showed up in magnificent shape.”

Over the course of the interview, he recalled how it was to train with Hogan.

“We started to roll around and he would literally pick me up and drop me to the ground and I thought, ‘I’m going to be literally a pulp by the time I land,’ ” Stallone told Levin. “And yet, he would always break the fall. He would do things that you wouldn’t see, like a magician.”

“I’ll say, I’ve had a lot of punches thrown at me,” he added. “No one was more accurate and precise than him. It was extraordinary for a man that size.”

He noted that Hogan is “irreplaceable,” and it’s a tragic loss.
