Coach Beard is married!
Brendan Hunt, known for his beloved role as Coach Beard on âTed Lasso,â has officially married longtime partner Shannon Nelson in a quiet ceremony in Ireland.
The actor and co-creator of the hit series announced the news in an Instagram post on Wednesday, Oct. 8, in a carousel of sweet images from the day.
He shared a lengthy caption for the special event.
âOh wait! I totally forgot to mention- me and @snoopshann got married in Ireland a couple weeks ago. NBD. It was done with way less lead time than youâre supposed to give, and way fewer guests than we would have liked to have under normal circumstances,â he wrote.
It Was a Team Affair
While Jason Sudeikis may have hung up his whistle as âTed Lassoâ in the third season of the show, he apparently picked up a new gig â wedding officiant.
The actor traded the locker room for the altar to marry his real-life friend.Â
Fans joked that Coach Ted just couldnât resist helping Coach Beard score one more goal â matrimony.
âAnd weâre pretty sure the dude who married us was only pretending to be a priest,â Hunt jokingly added.
Hunt continued, âBut we just about pulled it off. The bride was stunning, while the groom cleaned up reasonably well.”
Hunt also reflected on how it was to marry his best friend.
“It was all quite lovely, and best of all our little boys got to see it,” he wrote. “Shout out to all the young-at-heart lovers out there. In the words of my aunt Ellen, âItâs so much better to have a teammate.â
Their Union
Before their romantic Irish wedding, Hunt popped the question in June 2023 â just days after the âTed Lassoâ Season 3 finale.
The actor announced the engagement with a cheeky Instagram post showing Nelson flashing her emerald-cut diamond ring.
âThe majestic @snoopshann, so rarely photographed in her natural habitat, captured here in the act of saying âyes,ââ he wrote, earning waves of congratulations from fans and co-stars alike.
Nelson shared her own heartfelt post, writing, âWe are a family. A beautiful, wonderful family and will be for always⦠Now it feels right. I get to marry this beautiful man.â
The couple, who share sons Sean and Archie, had already built a life together before making it official.
Known for keeping their relationship private, the pair let the announcement speak for itself â simple, joyful, and deeply personal.
