"The Devil Wears Prada 2" Begins Filming

Everyone gird your loins, get out your sky high heels and start perfecting your withering look because “The Devil Wears Prada 2” has begun filming!

And everyone who’s anyone is back to reprise their iconic roles from the original 2006 film.

In an Instagram post June 30, 20th Century Studios put up a video of two red pumps with pitchforks for heels revolving. The caption read, “The Devil Wears Prada 2. Now in production. 👠👠”

And fans are here for it. Within three hours, the post had more than 140,000 likes and fan comments like “She’s on her way…. TELL EVERYONE 🙌😂❤️❤️” and “LOINS : GIRDED ✅”

All the Major Players Return to Reprise Their Roles

According to People, all the major players are back for the sequel, including Meryl Streep as Miranda Priestly, Anne Hathaway as Andy Sachs and Emily Blunt as Emily Charlton.

And the film is set to hit theaters almost exactly twenty years to the day from the first. “The Devil Wears Prada” debuted on June 30, 2006. “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will be on the big screen starting May 1, 2026.

According to Variety, the sequel focuses on Meryl Streep’s character Miranda in a brave new world where magazines aren’t as relevant as they once were. In a power shift, Miranda will reportedly be courting the advertising dollars controlled by Emily Blunt’s character, Emily Charlton. She is now a high-powered executive for a luxury group with money to spend. Where Anne Hathaway’s Andy Sachs fits into that equation remains to be seen.

‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Was Based on a Novel That Has a Sequel

The original movie in 2006 was based on the 2003 novel, “The Devil Wears Prada” by Lauren Weisberger. Weisberger had previously worked as an assistant for Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Weisberger wrote a sequel called “Revenge Wears Prada” ten years later. But what little we know of the plot for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” does not seem to line up with the storyline in the book sequel.

In the second novel, Andy Sachs and Emily Charlton have become friends and joined forces to start a successful bridal magazine that Miranda Priestly’s publishing company wants to buy.

So far, it’s unclear how much Weisberger is involved in the movie’s sequel.

Kenneth Branagh Joins the Cast

While the core cast seems to have returned to film the sequel, “The Devil Wears Prada 2” will also feature some new faces.

Variety reports that Kenneth Branagh will take on the role of Miranda Priestly’s current husband in the film.

Meanwhile, Anne Hathaway reposted 20th Century Studios Instagram post announcing that filming has begun, but she did so without comment.

Stanley Tucci, who played Nigel in the original film, did the same on his Instagram account.
