The ‘Friday Night Lights’ Reunion That’s in the Works

Friday Night Lights

“Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.”

From 2006 to 2011, “Friday Night Lights” had everyone hooked, following a small-town high school football team and its players as they navigated the ups and downs of life on and off the field. And now, the show is set to be rebooted on Peacock.

But first, some of the original stars will be reuniting at the 2026 ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, including the show’s executive producer/writer David Hudgins, executive producer/director Jeffrey Reiner, co-executive producer/writer Liz Heldens, and consulting producer/writer Kerry Ehrin, Variety reports.

Which Cast Members Will Be Attending?

As for the beloved actors who took us into the world of Texas football, there are three confirmed cast members who are set to be in attendance for the reunion.

Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, Adrianne Palicki will be there to celebrate the show, having played Football coach Eric Taylor, his wife, Tami Taylor, and student Tyra Collette.

The show is all set to receive the 2026 “Texas Made” Award, which celebrates “productions and talent that have created opportunities for TV & film professionals within the state.”

“There is nothing we’re more passionate about than celebrating great television within our community. When setting out to program our 15th Season, we are starting with a show that has not only become part of the story of the festival, but has left an indelible mark on television itself,” ATX TV co-president and co-founder Caitlin McFarland said (via Variety). “There was no question which series most embodies both sentiments – ‘Friday Night Lights’ has been at the heart of ATX TV Festival since year one, and honoring FNL’s 20th Anniversary with our Texas Made award couldn’t be a more perfect fit. This series serves as a beacon to what great production in our state can look like, and as Texas sets out to grow film and TV production through the newly passed historic film and TV incentives, there is no better time to honor this series with some of the greatest cast and creatives we know.”

Why Did They Decide To Reboot ‘Friday Night Lights’

When speaking with Variety in November 2025, Imagine Entertainment president Justin Wilkes revealed the reason for bringing back this iconic show.

“This new version is set in a Texas town that a tornado had destroyed, and the community has to rebuild,” Wilkes says. “Those are all themes that are very relevant today. You know, look at the floods that happened in Texas not that long. It just felt like that’s a reason to go back into the IP and come up with a new story.”
