Are you happy with the list of nominees? (The Game Awards)
Get ready to cheer and groan at the full list of nominees for this year’s The Game Awards, with two games in particular poised to take home seven trophies.
This evening, Geoff Keighley took to social media to unveil the nominees for The Game Awards 2024, which are scheduled to take place in the early hours of Friday, December 13.
Somewhat surprisingly, Elden Ring could once again steal the show this year. Despite already claiming Game of the Year in 2022, it’s been nominated once again thanks to the Shadow Of The Erdtree DLC, and is also up for Best Game Direction and Best Art Direction.
The Game Awards already updated its website a couple of days ago, to say DLC could be eligible for nominations in any categories. So, expect that to be at the centre of this year’s discourse.
However, two other games are leading the charge in terms of nominations. Both Sony’s Astro Bot and Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth boast seven nominations each, which includes Game of the Year for both.
Balatro also deservedly snagged a Game of the Year nomination, along with the excellent Metaphor: ReFantazio and the somewhat less deserving Black Myth: Wukong.
You can find the full list of categories and nominees below. While we will be part of the judging panel this year, you can cast your own votes for each category on The Game Awards website.
Nominees for the Player’s Voice award, which is determined entirely by a public vote, will be shared on December 2.
