Upon the news that Sean “Diddy” Combs‘ prison release date was moved up, many wondered what the reason for that is.

The disgraced music mogul, who was sentenced to 50 months (four years and two months) in federal prison after being convicted in October on two counts of sex-trafficking charges, was set to be released on June 4, 2028. That date was actually pushed back from his initial release date of May 8, 2028.

Now, according to <a href=”https://www.bop.gov/mobile/find_inmate/byname.jsp#inmate_results” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Federal Bureau of Prisons records, Combs’ release has been pushed up to April 25, 2028. Even though most experts agree that the rapper would likely only serve about three years of his sentence, to see his release date officially moved up has left many scratching their heads about why that change was made.

Some are asking if it’s due to good behavior since the only thing the public has heard is that during his first week at Fort Dix, Combs drank homemade alcohol, something his spokesperson vehemently denied.

Well, turns out the actual reason for an earlier release date is due to Diddy’s participation in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP), which allows qualifying inmates to reduce their sentences.

<a href=”https://pagesix.com/2026/03/02/celebrity-news/sean-diddy-combs-lands-early-prison-release-as-he-fights-to-appeal-prison-sentence/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Page Six noted that the Bad Boy Records founder was accepted into the rehabilitation program in November.

Despite this change, Combs’ attorneys continue to appeal his four-year sentence.
