The Surprising Memory Brooke Hogan Takes Comfort in From Her Dad’s Career

Brooke Hogan and Hulk Hogan

Brooke Hogan recently revealed that she’s taking comfort in a memory she has from her dad Hulk Hogan‘s wrestling career. On August 8, Brooke posted an Instagram reel featuring a clip of Hulk walking her down the aisle. But it wasn’t from Brooke’s actual wedding, it was part of a televised event for TNA wrestling.

Although it wasn’t real, Brooke explained that the memory moved her nonetheless. “Something hit me today … it may have been for a storyline … it may have been fake. But I remember this moment like it was yesterday … I actually teared up when I saw my daddy emerge in suit to walk me down the aisle – into a wrestling wring of all things,” she captioned the video clip.

“I actually got nervous and emotional, as if it were real … then he whispered to me ‘chill out, it’s a work.’ But for some reason, I still felt proud,” Brooke shared. “So although I didn’t get to achieve this experience in real life unfortunately, I can try to fuse two happy memories into one – and make a happy ending of my own to hold on to.”

She concluded by writing, “I can officially say ‘My dad did walk me down the aisle one time … 😔.’”

Why Hulk Hogan Chose Not to Attend Brooke’s Wedding

In 2022, Brooke Hogan married former NHL player Steven Oleksy. According to TMZ, the happy couple tied the knot in a private ceremony held in Orlando, Florida. Later, the pair celebrated with Oleksy’s family in his home state of Michigan.

Brooke kept the marriage private until she shared a selfie with her husband in January of 2024. “I’m really lucky. God did me a solid on this one❤️” she captioned the Instagram post.

While Brooke seemed over the moon with her man, something had been missing from her wedding. According to Oleksy, Hulk didn’t attend the nuptials because he claimed at the time he “doesn’t do weddings or funerals anymore.” “It was a situation where she loved her dad very, very much,” Oleksy told People, but the rift between Brooke and her dad had “really taken a toll on her.”

Brooke Hogan Celebrated Her Dad’s Life Privately

Hulk Hogan passed away on July 24 of a heart attack after battling multiple health issues over many years. He was 71 years old. Although his funeral was attended by his ex-wife Linda Hogan and his son Nick Hogan, Brooke opted not to take part.

“My father hated the morbidity of funerals. He didn’t want one,” Brooke explained in an Instagram post featuring she and her husband and their twins on a beach. “I had to make my own decision to honor him the best and most genuine way I knew how … privately,” she shared.

“Every grain of sand and every wave reminded me of being your beach baby, and brought us closer to you,” Brooke wrote. “Rest in heaven, Daddy❤️”
