The top 10 most-watched Netflix movies as horror rockets to 62,900,000 views

FRANKENSTEIN. Oscar Isaac as Victor Frankenstein in Frankenstein. Cr. Ken Woroner/Netflix ?? 2025.
As ever, Netflix viewers had a pleasingly eclectic taste in films over the past week. They sat down to enjoy Crimbo chaos, gothic re-imaginings, glossy K-pop action, sunny romance, hard-hitting thrillers and documentaries about Hollywood stars with annoying laughs. The variety is striking. There’s also dark serial killer gloominess, madcap animation and classic 90’s courtroom thrills. Here’s a closer look at the 10 films that claimed the most views across Netflix’s global movie charts last week… (Picture: Netflix)

10. Baramulla – 4,300,000 views

This 2025 Hindi-language supernatural thriller, directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, stars Manav Kaul as a police officer investigating a series of child kidnappings over in Kashmir, only to stumble into spooky hauntings and all sorts of political intrigue. Reviewers were quick to point out the film’s scope and impressive visuals, but some argued that the screenplay buckles under its own weight somewhat. Still, it stands out for blending social commentary with one of Bollywood’s more successful horror experiments to date. This was Baramulla’s second week in the charts. (Picture: Netflix)

9. A House of Dynamite – 4,300,000 views

From Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker director Kathryn Bigelow, this tense political thriller opens when an unattributed missile launch sparks a chain of responses across the US government. The stellar cast includes Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Gabriel Basso and Tracey Letts (pictured left), and a structure that loops the same crisis through multiple perspectives. Reviews applaud A House of Dynamite for the authenticity of the tension and Bigelow’s return to form. If you prefer your thrills with a side of geopolitics, this one’s for you. It’s all about anxiety, however. So don’t go in expecting car chases or – ironically – explosions. (Picture: Netflix)

8. The Little Things – 5,300,000 views

Film fans wanting to check out a dark thriller they’ve perhaps not seen before were only too keen to press play and have The Little Things wash over them this past week. Largely, you’d think, due to the acting talent at work. Denzel Washington and Rami Malek play detectives hunting down a creepy serial killer played with relish by the always slightly odd Jared Leto. In truth, the film can’t fully back up its all-star cast. It’s no Se7en, let’s just say that. Still, it’s functional as a grim crime flick. As over 5.3 million people around the world discovered over the past seven days. (Picture: Warner Bros/Everett/Shutterstock)

7. A Time to Kill – 5,400,000 views

Always nice to see something of a classic in the top 10 most-watched film chart over on Netflix. Okay, so this Joel Schumacher legal thriller isn’t Citizen Kane or Casablanca. And a film from 1996 still feels quite fresh, but it is almost three decades old. In it, a broken man (Samuel L Jackson) snaps after the brutal racist murder of his young daughter in the Deep South. Defending him are the relatively inexperienced duo of a cocky Matthew McConaughey and a green but sharp Sandra Bullock. Based on John Grisham’s 1989 novel of the same name, it co-stars Kevin Spacey – in typically oily form – and Sutherlands, Donald and Kiefer. (Picture: Warner Bros/Kobal/Shutterstock)

6. Being Eddie – 5,700,000 views

Eddie Murphy’s still quite a big deal. The former stand-up-turned-actor can still get movies commissioned and command a pretty hefty fee. But it’s easy to forget that – for most of the 80’s and 90’s – he was enormous box office. This open and honest documentary into the Hollywood comedy icon’s life and career has proven popular with viewers. Showing just how much of a draw the 64-year-old still is even now. 5. In Your Dreams – 8,300,000 views

This bright, fun and imaginative animated adventure follows siblings Stevie and Elliot who are plunged into the dream realm in a desperate bid to track down The Sandman and patch up their parents’ fractured marriage. Jolie Hoang-Rappaport and Elias Janssen voice the brother and sister with a sweetness and warmth that grounds the film’s somewhat more surreal madness. Directed by Wall-E and Ratatouille story artist Alex Woo, In Your Dreams has lots of ideas and – crucially – it’s a fresh new, original concept too. (Picture: Netflix)

4. Mango – 10,800,000 views

Josephine Park leads this tender Danish romantic drama as Lærke, a chef who moves to Malaga in southern Spain after a personal collapse leaves her career in tatters. There she romantically connects with Alex, played with quiet warmth by the charismatic Dar Salim. After, of course, initially clashing with him. Gentle, grounded and quietly affecting, it earned its place in the top tier last week. It’s the world’s most-watched non-English film at the moment. (Picture: Netflix/Everett/Shutterstock)

3. KPop Demon Hunters – 11,600,000 views

It’s getting a bit boring now this, isn’t it? KPop Demon Hunters literally will not go away. Incredibly, this is now the 22nd week of it being right up at the top of the Netflix most-watched movies chart. Still riding a monstrous wave of fandom power, this animated fantasy is on the repeat watchlist of many a family right across the world. With music numbers that are cleverly engineered for repeat listening and a visual style that sits somewhere between neon fever dream and glossy music video, audience enthusiasm for this cultural juggernaut shows no sign of slowing down just yet. 2. A Merry Little Ex-Mas – 12,800,000 views

This unapologetically madcap festive comedy leans into the newly-popular made-for-TV-style (cough cheap) Christmas movie fad. The story follows a recently divorced mother (Alicia Silverstone) who discovers that her ex-husband (Nashville’s Oliver Hudson) has been invited to Christmas by her well-meaning family, ensuring seasonal awkwardness becomes the main course, instead of roast turkey. Propelled by two charming leads, the film has plenty of sharp one-liners and more than a few tender moments. Viewers are flocking to it because nothing says Christmas quite like easy-to-watch festive slush. (Picture: Netflix/Everett/Shutterstock)

1. Frankenstein – 33,800,000 views

Directed by Guillermo del Toro and starring Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz and Jacob Elordi, this latest Frankenstein reimagines Mary Shelley’s classic as a gothic European drama injected with del Toro’s signature visual flair. Critical response has been strong, with words like ‘masterful’ and ‘stunning’ cropping up frequently. Most also praise Elordi’s portrayal and the emotional depth beneath the horror. The film clocks in at 150 minutes and positions itself as more tragedy than creature feature (despite the gore and violence), which may surprise some fans, but rewards those with patience and who will pay attention. Not into del Toro’s work? You may well struggle here. Still, whatever your thoughts, it’s hard not to enjoy Elordi and Goth at the top of their respective games. 33,800,000+ people watched it last week and now 62,900,000+ since its release… (Picture: Netflix)
