As The Celebrity Traitors draws to a close, gameplay is becoming more important than ever, but fans think the Traitors missed a trick in last night’s episode.
After Lucy Beaumont’s brutal murder, there were three Traitors amongst seven players, meaning that 42.85% of the cast were treacherous. The odds were stacked against the Faithfuls.
As the show progressed, it became clear that Jonathan Ross wasn’t going to be safe at the round table.
Celia Imrie, despite her countless compliments towards the television presenter, was leading the charge against Jonathan alongside Joe Marler.
After managing to convince some of the others to get on board, as well as Celia’s ‘call for urgency’, the Faithfuls voted their first Traitor out – at last!
Still, some fans think Cat Burns, Alan Carr and Jonathan missed a huge trick as a team of Traitors.
On Reddit, Background-Factor817 argued: ‘If the Traitors put up a united front they could have banished Joe, murdered David, and then skipped to victory because it would have been three vs three.
‘Of course, they instead turned on each other, which has just lost them the game. Alan is going to give himself away, murdering in plain sight.’
With this theory, Jonathan could still have received three votes, putting the game in the hands of fate once more.
However, if the Traitors could have swayed one of the more impressionable players (*cough* Kate Garraway *cough*), then maybe they could have gotten Joe out at the round table.
The former rugby player, 35, is a powerful player, and can’t be murdered because he won the shield.
Instead, Cat and Alan turned on their fellow Traitor, Jonathan, throwing him under the bus in an attempt to make themselves look as faithful as possible.
To celebrate their first Traitor banishment, Claudia announced they would be treated to a dinner party that evening.
The cast rejoiced at the idea – but it won’t be so relaxing for Alan and Cat, who later found out they’ll have to murder in plain sight.
To achieve this, one of them must say the words: ‘Parting is such sweet sorrow’, followed by the chosen Faithful’s name.
Some viewers think it’s too difficult to do, without being obvious.
HotelPuzzleheaded654 wrote on Reddit: ‘The task this time may as well be to say “I’m murdering whoever tonight” at the dinner table, feels unfair.’
While another user thinks they’ve worked out a way that Alan can avoid suspicion. Cavemeister wrote: ‘If Alan says it to Joe in a way that avoids suspicion, then the Traitors will think there was a recruitment as Joe has the shield.’
TippyTurtley replied: ‘Clever, that is different gravy’.
The Celebrity Traitors returns tonight at 9pm on BBC One.
