A This Morning regular has shared how her life took a devastating turn after announcing her engagement online.
Michelle Elman, who is an author and life coach, appears on tonight’s episode of Channel 4’s First Dates in the hope of finding love after a previous heartbreak.
Viewers might recognise Michelle from her previous appearances on ITV’s This Morning, where she is a resident life coach.
Arriving at the First Dates restaurant, she meets electrician Greg, who she tells she’s looking for a man with ‘golden retriever’ energy.
And it’s not long before Michelle opens up to Greg about her previous relationship, which left her heartbroken last year.
After getting engaged, she shared the news on social media — only to find out just an hour later that her new fiancé had been cheating on her.
‘Those three years were the healthiest and happiest relationship I knew. The first guy I’ve properly fallen in love with,’ she explains in tonight’s episode.
‘We got engaged and I just wanted to share my engagement photo. I posted it and an hour later I got a DM saying that one of my followers had slept with him a few months before.’
She tells Greg that it felt like the life she had been planning had been ‘ripped out from under [her].’
Despite previous heartbreak, Michelle and Greg bond over a love of dancing on a night out, with Michelle sharing that she’s ‘the dance on the tables girl’ and Greg adding that he likes to mount the tables in Albert’s Schloss.
But Greg has a heartbreaking story himself, having lost his girlfriend Anna in a car accident.
Speaking exclusively to Metro, Michelle revealed more about her experience on First Dates.
‘I told [First Dates] I’d previously dated people who were quite different to me and I was curious to see if it would work if I dated someone who was higher energy. I’ve always been told I give ‘golden retriever energy’ and I wanted to see if two golden retrievers would work.’
Speaking about Greg, Michelle added: ‘Going on the date with Greg confirmed that was what I was looking for and it turns out two high-energy people leads to a lot of fun and laughs.’
But as for whether the pair go the distance, viewers will have to tune in to tonight’s episode of First Dates to find out.
Elsewhere, the restaurant welcomes 62-year-old Mark, who’s spent £10,000 looking for love, and 69-year-old Josie, a former PA to Take That.
25-year-old coach driver and avid gamer Joe dates 23-year-old video game designer Maisie, while a 32-year-old single mum, also called Maisie, meets stylish Dan, who’s been left guarded by a previous heartbreak.
And this latest season of the Channel 4 show has already seen its fair share of successful matches.
Mum-of-three Sophie shocked her date, Emily, by revealing her husband was waiting at the bar. But fortunately she wasn’t deterred, and it became the show’s first ‘throuple’ date.
Last week, meanwhile, 58-year-old Lorraine delighted 24-year-old Cormac when she confessed she’d like to ‘snog’ him.
First Dates airs tonight at 10pm on Channel 4.
