Tina Fey has an iconic acting and comedy career spanning decades. Although she has plenty of professional projects to pursue, she also enjoys time with her daughters, Alice and Penelope.
As the girls grow up, they’re also exploring acting and comedy. In a recent interview, Tina Fey shared her thoughts on her kids following in her footsteps.
Tina Fey Weighs in on Her Daughters Stepping into the Spotlight
At a HISTORYTalks event this week, Tina Fey sat down with writer Damian Holbrook. He noted that the actress’ oldest daughter, Alice, 20, was a budding comedienne.
“I mean, at the college level,” Tina acknowledged. “We’ll see how it all shakes out… We had to come up such a different path. Who knows?”
Tina Fey got her start at improv clubs in the 90s. From there, she went on to become a writer on “Saturday Night Live” and eventually joined the cast, which landed her even bigger and better career opportunities.
However, she knows the situation won’t quite be the same for her daughters. The “Mean Girls” star went on to discuss the “nepo baby” label and how the public often looks down on actors’ children.
“The viewer is still like, ‘Nepo baby, yuck.’ Not about my kids, but about other people,” Tina joked.
Holbrook suggested that Alice just make a viral TikTok and earn her fame that way.
“I certainly hope not,” the actress replied.
Tina Fey’s younger daughter, Penelope, 14, has also dabbled in acting and comedy.
“When she was born, it was the end of ‘30 Rock‘ and I was home a lot more,” Tina said of her younger daughter in the discussion. “She had a play date over and the kid said, ‘Your mom’s famous.’ And my daughter said, ‘She’s not famous. She’s well known.’”
The ‘Saturday Night Live’ Legend Helps Start the Show Across the Pond
Comedienne Tina Fey is famous for her hilarious “Saturday Night Live” roles in the early 2000s. This year, she received the opportunity to host the very first episode of the UK’s version of SNL.
Many feel uncertain whether or not this new incarnation of “Saturday Night Live” will be successful in the UK. However, most agree that inviting Tina Fey to start the show was an excellent way to get British audiences interested in the sketch comedy series.
