Veteran Hollywood actor James Handy, whose career spanned more than four decades and included roles in Top Gun: Maverick, Logan, and Jumanji, has died after being stabbed at his California home.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers discovered Handy, 81, suffering from stab wounds to the chest outside his home in Tarzana on Wednesday morning.
According to police, officers responded to a call at around 9:30 am after a man made a chilling admission to emergency services.
‘The 911 caller stated, “I am the son of man, I just killed the man of sin,”’ the LAPD said in a statement.
Authorities identified the suspect as 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, the son of Handy’s girlfriend, who has now been arrested and is being held on $2million bail.
‘The suspect resides at the location with his mother, who is the victim’s girlfriend,’ the statement said.
When officers arrived at the property, they found Handy unconscious in the front yard.
‘The victim was transported to a local hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics, where he was pronounced deceased,’ police added.
