<p id=”par-1_20″>Canadian <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/tag/hip-hop/?swcfpc=1″>rapper</a> Tory Lanez has been rushed to the hospital following an altercation with another inmate at a California prison. </p>
<p id=”par-2_46″>On Monday morning, Lanez, 32, was stabbed in the prison yard of the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi, California, multiple outlets are reporting. Officials told the <a href=”https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/music/story/2025-05-12/tory-lanez-hospitalized-prison-stabbing-california” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Los Angeles Times</a> that the inmate stabbed Lanez with a homemade shank. The motivation for the attack was not clear. </p>
<p id=”par-3_46″>The incident occurred about 7:20 a.m. Lanez – whose real name is Daystar Peterson – was then transported via ambulance to a hospital in nearby Bakersfield for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening. The California Correction Institute and the Kern County District Attorney’s Office are investigating. </p>
<p id=”par-4_45″>Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence after being found guilty of <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/megan-thee-stallion-admitted-scared-life-during-tory-lanez-shooting-could-shoot-kill.html/”>shooting rapper Megan Thee Stallion</a> in the foot following a party at Kylie Jenner’s home in July 2020. He began serving his sentence in 2023 and is eligible for parole in July 2029. </p>
<p id=”par-5_32″>Though Lanez is currently behind bars, that has not stopped him from <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/tory-lanez-admits-to-having-a-crush-on-kylie-jenner-in-new-song-about-megan-thee-stallion-shooting-incident.html/”>recording new music</a>. His album <em>Peterson </em>was released in March 2025, and he has teased another album release this summer. </p>
