The Voice is reportedly scrambling to find two new faces for its judging panel, after the McFly double act quit.
Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher only just joined the ITV competition series last year, after the controversial axing of Olly Murs and Anne-Marie as coaches.
The McFly musicians came on board as the first ever coaching pair, vying against the likes of Sir Tom Jones, will.i.am and LeAnn Rimes for series 13.
The release date for the upcoming 14th series has not yet been confirmed, but production has reportedly been completed, so the episodes have been filmed.
But The Sun has reported that the McFly stars have upped and left their double chair on the ITV1 panel, as bosses had hoped to lock them in for series 15.
A source told the publication: ‘Tom and Danny loved their time on the show, but a full series is a huge commitment.
‘Tom is back and forth from New York, working on taking Paddington: The Musical over there from London’s West End — and he’s also in and out of the studio writing the eighth McFly album with Danny.
‘As much as they would have liked to return to The Voice, sadly it’s impossible.’
ITV told Metro they had no comment on this story.
Filming for series 15 was reportedly due to start this autumn and, given that timing, it could also be up in the air whether longtime host Emma Willis will be back, given that she has clinched the coveted Strictly Come Dancing job.
Willis has hosted The Voice since 2014, at first alongside Marvin Humes and then from 2017 taking on the job solo.
While she will be back for series 14, it remains unclear whether the new Strictly triumvirate member will front the show beyond that, amid hosting duties with Johannes Radebe and Josh Widdicombe this autumn on the BBC.
There will also be a change on the upcoming coaching panel for series 14, after Rimes announced last year she would be exiting the show to focus on her career in the US.
ITV subsequently announced that Destiny’s Child star Kelly Rowland would be taking her spot on the panel.
In a statement, Kelly said she was ‘looking forward to working with the excellent and passionate coaches the show is known for’.
‘I can’t wait to hear all the new talent and to go to battle for my team. Let’s go!’ she added.
Metro contacted Danny Jones and Tom Fletcher for comment on this story.
The Voice will return for series 14 on ITV1 and ITVX.
