Despite its line-up featuring some of the biggest names in showbiz, a major music festival has been scrapped at the last minute.
HeritageLive was due to kick off at the beginning of August at the historic Audley End estate and continue throughout summer at Englefield Estate and the Sandringham Estate.
Alas, not even stars like Christina Aguilera, Lionel Richie, or Janet Jackson could drum up sufficient ticket sales, leaving ‘devastated’ organisers with no choice but to pull the plug.
In a statement issued today, they confirmed the ‘heartbreaking news’ of the festival’s cancellation following ‘far lower than average’ interest.
‘We’d been working desperately hard behind the scenes to conclude an investment and equity package to ease the burden of an extraordinarily tough year, but this last beacon of hope has fallen through at the 11th hour, making it impossible to go ahead,’ they shared.
Also citing rising expenses and a crowded festival scene as the reasons for the axe, they added: ‘As one of the few remaining British independent promoters, it’s become almost impossible to compete in what has become an increasingly saturated festival market.
‘It would therefore be irresponsible and wrong of us to proceed without the certainty that we’d be able to meet all of our supplier, artist and crew costs.
‘The whole HeritageLive team is absolutely devastated.’
Organisers concluded: ‘It would have been the most amazing summer with such an extraordinary array of supreme talent, and we’re all so very sorry to let everyone down.’
Ticketholders who purchased through reputable agents (AXS, Ticketmaster, See Tickets, Gigantic, Skiddle, or Ticketline) should retain their transaction receipt and will have their refunds generated automatically ‘within a reasonable period’.
The providers can be contacted with any questions.
Event bosses are now urging past attendees to ‘look back with fond memories to those happier days’.
‘We’ve had so many awesome and magical moments over the years and hope they remain in your hearts forever.’
HeritageLive was met with high praise when its line-up was revealed, with Christina’s gig due to be a one-off UK show from the American star.
Giles Cooper of HeritageLive Festival shared earlier this year: ‘We’re delighted to have Christina Aguilera completing our 2026 line-up.
‘There aren’t many artists who have had the kind of career Christina has. For more than 25 years, she’s continued to reinvent herself while remaining one of the most recognisable and respected voices in music.
‘Her catalogue speaks for itself, and her live performances continue to showcase the extraordinary talent and stage presence that have defined her career.’
He promised an ‘incredible’ summer of music in what was to be ‘a real moment’ for the festival.
What’s more, HeritageLive in Sandringham was marking Ricky Martin’s first UK concert in a decade.
Other music icons taking to the stages should’ve been Craig David, Blue, Eric Clapton, Sugababes, Olly Alexander, Ronnie Wood, and Soul II Soul.
There were even meant to be comedy shows in a new addition to the programme, with some of the most recognisable names in stand-up providing laughs inside a huge Big-Top.
Russell Howard, Tom Allen, Josh Widdicombe, Milton Jones, Sara Pascoe, and Russell Kane were among the bookings.
HeritageLive has repeatedly delivered with its line-ups, as previous years have seen performances from plenty of other legends, from The Who to Sir Tom Jones and from Sir Van Morrison to Robbie Williams.
Last year, Mariah Carey, Stereophonics, Michael Bublé, and the Pet Shop Boys headlined.
