A few hours after A$AP Rocky gushed about Rihanna on the Met Gala red carpet, the couple were caught in an uncomfortable exchange in the back of a car.
The power couple have been together since 2021 and share three children – Rza, 3, Riot, 2 and Rocki, eight months.
After being friends for years before getting together, the pair have amassed a legion of fans who have got behind their relationship and supported the coupling.
On Monday night they again commanded attention when attending the Met Gala – where they’ve been a firm fixture on the guest list in recent years.
However, when leaving the event, cameras captured the pair locked in what looked like a tense argument.
Sitting in the back of a limousine, Rihanna could be seen with an annoyed expression on her face while speaking to her partner, whose eyebrows were raised while replying to her.

While they couldn’t be heard, A$AP turned his head from his partner at one point and avoided eye contact as she continued staring him down.
A minute-long clip shared on TMZ saw them go back and forth, with Rihanna leaning forward at one point to speak to A$AP, however he stayed where he was sitting and didn’t look her in the eyes again as he spoke.
After eventually exiting their car, she walked back into the hotel alone alongside one of their security team.
After the clip was shared online, many rushed to defend the couple and issue reminders that arguments are not out of the ordinary – and they were probably exhausted after a big night too.
‘Just a normal husband and wife interaction…what do you expect? To be happy and smiling 24/7?’ user mostwantedimran posted on X.
‘Imagine having all those little kids…I’m sure they just wanna get home and sleep for a while before one of the babies wake up,’ buttersunshine4 shared.
‘They could be discussing frustrations with the night and not each other. Either way it ain’t my business,’ T_Griff_ declared.
‘This is simply 2 adults having a respectful conversation .no shouting, no aggression, no raised hands, just a steady, respectful conversation,’ neeckiminaj wrote.
‘This is very normal for couples, why does it seem like an issue with celebrities,’ stronggirllolla added.
‘Must really be hard being in the spotlight because arguing is normal in relationships but when it comes to celebrities, it’s a whole fuss,’ berniewanzie echoed.
Another video shared online showed Rihanna waiting to enter the museum and being asked by media how she was going, to which she replied ‘yes, and how are you’. Although she was politely replying it was clear she didn’t want to chat and was waiting for her partner, who was speaking to Swarovski’s global creative director Giovanna Engelbert behind her.
However A$AP then approached and hugged the man filming, asking how he was, posing for a photo and having a quick chat before they moved on.
A regular on Met Gala best-dressed lists, Rihanna again turned heads with her outfit this year – wearing a Maison Margiela creation by Glenn Martens, which was paired with a striking Art Deco-style headpiece.
Speaking to Variety on the red carpet, A$AP praised his partner and said she was ‘shining like a diamond’.
After initially meeting in 2012, the pair then coupled up in 2019 – with A$AP describing Rihanna as ‘the love of my life’ two years later.
The Met Gala has also played a part in several of their relationship milestones – with the couple making their red carpet debut at the event in 2021 and last year revealed her third pregnancy at the event.
Confirming the baby news, A$AP Rocky told reporters on the red carpet: ‘It feels amazing, you know.
‘It’s time that we show the people what we were cooking up. And I’m glad everybody’s happy for us ’cause we definitely happy, you know.’
‘Honestly, it’s a blessing nonetheless,’ he told the AP. ‘Because you know how like some people in other situations at times can be envious of other people.
‘But we’ve been seeing love for the most part. And we real receptive to that and appreciate that, you know what I mean? That’s love. Love is love.’
