We now have more information about the last film in the “Fast & Furious” franchise.

Vin Diesel made a surprise appearance at FuelFest on June 28 to give fans an update on the final installation of “Fast & Furious.”

Diesel, who has headlined the franchise since its inception in 2001, revealed that the final film will release sometime in April 2027. The actor also teased a reunion between his character, Dominic “Dom” Toretto, and the late Paul Walker’s character Brian O’Connor.

The Final ‘Fast & Furious’ Film Will Be Filmed And Set Back Home in Los Angeles

In a return to the franchise’s roots, the much-anticipated sequel to 2023’s “Fast X” will take place in Los Angeles.

Diesel and his longtime “Fast” co-star Jordana Brewster originally called on Universal Pictures to film the final “Fast & Furious” movie in Los Angeles in January during the devastating L.A. wildfires.

“Los Angeles needs it now more than ever… Los Angeles is where Fast and Furious started filming 25 years ago… and now Fast will finally return home,” Diesel captioned an Instagram post of himself and Brewster hugging. “All love…”

According to Deadline, there are no major films currently slated for an April 2027 release on the calendar. However, 2015’s “Furious 7,” which was the was the only film in the franchise to open in that month, saw the biggest opening weekend of the franchise – earning $392.2 million globally.

Fans Have Already Begun To Speculate How Paul Walker’s Brian Will Return To The Screen

Walker, who passed away in a car accident in November 2013, starred in six “Fast & Furious” films, including the first, which released in 2001.

After his death, the production team of “Furious 7” utilized archival footage of the actor and a combination of CGI and Walker’s brothers Caleb and Cody to finish the film and give his character Brian a proper send-off.

Now, with Diesel revealing that Brian O’Connor will reunite with the rest of the family at some point during the “Fast X” sequel, many are wondering what to expect.

At the end of “Furious 7,” Brian left the team to raise his son, whom he shared with Dom’s sister Mia. When Mia returned in “F9,” she explained Brian’s absence as him staying back to look after their new family. At the end of the film, a chair is left empty at the team’s cookout – a respectful nod to Walker and possible hint as to the character’s return.

Fans will have to wait until 2027 to see how the franchise ultimately concludes Dom, Brian and the rest of the “Fast” characters’ stories.
