Viola Davis Turns 60
Davis is currently on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, E! News reports. She looks incredible, and her new look makes a bold statement.
Six days earlier, on August 8, David posted a photo on Instagram of herself looking very different. In the picture, she is lying on a sofa and her hair is short, cropped, and straight. Viola Davis Embraces Age With Confidence & Grace
Davis has embraced many different looks over the years and is celebrated for her beauty and willingness to experiment and try something new. Fans may think she looks young, but age is not something that scares her. Instead, the “How to Get Away with Murder” star has spoken about aging in interviews, making powerful statements, and helping to change the narrative around women and age.
Ten years ago, in an interview with InStyle magazine, via ABC News, published in December 2015, Davis discussed what she had learned with age. “What’s released me most from the fear of aging is self-awareness,” she said. “I’ve never determined my value based on my looks or anything physical. I’ve been through a lot in life, and what has gotten me through is strength of character and faith.”
In an interview with Essence in April 2021, Davis discussed aging again and how she sees such beauty in it. âEven when I was younger, Iâd look in the face of Helen Mirren and Jane Fonda and Cicely Tyson, and all Iâd see was beauty,â she told Essence. âBut yes, the industry does put a lot of pressure on you. Thereâs a feeling like youâre no longer valuable when you get older. I donât feel that our society has embraced what comes with aging. They think that you just get old, we donât value wisdom, and we donât value experience.”
She is aware that age discrimination exists, but also stated that she never lies about her age and stressed the importance of understanding your self-worth.
