The “Wuthering Heights” trailer dropped November 13, 2025, and it had fans cheering for the tantalizing chemistry between co-leads Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. One fan gushed, “Elordi has cornered the market on tall, dark and handsome (and brooding) roles,” while another remarked, “Jacob Elordiâs agent is working overtime right now. Iâve been saying that heâs about to become an absolute superstar, since Euphoria. Now heâs shaping up to be exactly that, in front of our very eyes and Iâm excited for the great work coming our way.”
Another called a romantic moment where Elordi’s character, Heathcliff, tells Robbie’s Catherine Earnshaw to “kiss me” as they stand in the rain “so Elizabeth and Darcy coded,” referencing the iconic couple from Jane Austen’s novel “Pride & Prejudice.”
When Does ‘Wuthering Heights’ Come Out?
The film is set for a Valentine’s Day release in February 2026, per Deadline. Fan reactions to the full trailer included predictions that the movie will steer away from the Emily Brontë novel’s grim tone and lean more into the romantic, based on its bold declaration calling the source material “the greatest love story of all time.”
The trailer opens with Heathcliff sharing a conversation with Catherine about what he would do if he were rich, before transitioning into scenes of Heathcliff’s departure and Catherine’s engagement to Edgar Linton, who is her socioeconomic match but she does not love.
Eventually, Heathcliff returns. Catherine asks him, “Why did you leave me?” to which he replies, “Why did you betray your own heart?
The Hollywood Reporter says the film is from director Emerald Fennell, who previously made waves with her zany comedy thriller “Saltburn” in 2023. Before that, the 40-year-old Brit gained acclaim for her 2020 project “Promising Young Woman,” which earned her an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay.
