Tia and Tamera Mowry have been a fixture on our screens since the 1990s with the hit series Sister Sister.

We’ve followed them since their childhood singing days through to their big break on television, and even tying the knot and welcoming children of their own.

Last year, Tia announced her split from her husband of 14 years Cory Hardrict, whom she met in 2000 while filming Hollywood Horror.

In a clip from her upcoming WE TV series Tia Mowry: My Next Act she opened up about the loneliness of divorce, and seemed to hint that her and sister Tamera have drifted apart.

We take a look at the sisters’ rise to fame and where they are now – including rumours of a rift.

Who are Tia and Tamera Mowry?

The sisters rose to prominence starring as twins Tia Landry and Tamera Campbell in Sister Sister, who were separated at birth and later reunited.

Their hit show ran for six seasons between 1994 and 1999 and catapulted the sisters to fame, heading to an appearance in Rob Schneider’s The Hot Chick and Disney Channel movie Twitches.

Tia and Tamera also had roles in Seventeen Again and Strong Medicine, as well as a guest appearance on the hit kids TV show Blues Clues.

The twins had their own reality TV show, Tia and Tamera, from 2011 to 2013 which gave viewers an inside look into their lives.

But they’ve also had successful careers away from each other, launching their own books and appearing on podcasts while also scoring TV roles in their own right.

Tamera became a co-host of the syndicated daytime talk show The Real alongside Adrienne Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, and Jeannie Mai.

She also competed on The Masked Singer in 2021 and hosted Hulu show Baker’s Dozen in the same year.

Tia, meanwhile, hosted her own cooking channel, Tia Mowry at Home, from 2015 to 2017, and has appeared on the Netflix comedy series Family Reunion since 2019.

The twins maintained a close relationship throughout their careers, with Tia once revealing that she gave Tamera some of her breast milk to drink after she complained about being sick.

In a video posted to Instagram, Tamera raved about her sister’s breast milk from behind a squeaky-voiced filter, saying: ‘Oh my gosh, Tia, this is amazing. Your breast milk is the best milk I’ve ever tried in my life. Oh my god.’

Where are the Sister Sister twins now?

Tia and Tamera have reportedly grown apart in recent years.

Following Tia’s split from Cory – with whom she shares children Cree, 13, and six-year-old daughter Cairo – in 2023, she has revealed that she just wants to be able to speak to her former co-star amid the loneliness of divorce.

Speaking in a clip from My Next Act, she said: ‘I came into this world with a twin and right after that, I went into a 22-year relationship so I have never been alone in my life.

‘It has been quite a journey. Being alone has been the most challenging part of my divorce.

‘It’s times like this when I feel and wish that my sister and I were still close and I could pick up the phone and call her. But that’s just not where we are right now.’

However, an insider explained that the former Nickelodeon star was just talking about the logistics of where she and her sister are both living at the moment, as they played down any notion of a feud between the pair.

The source told People: ‘The sisters are still close, but the quote being referenced was about the lack of proximity in their physical location — Tamera lives in Napa and Tia lives in Los Angeles.’

Tamera previously revealed she ‘found out with the rest of the world’ that Tia would be launching her own reality series.

She also told Entertainment Tonight: ‘Tia is living her life right now, and Tia is doing Tia.’

When asked if she would appear in the show, Tamera said: ‘Uh, she didn’t ask me. So I take that as, no! No, she’s like, this is my story, and you know, I can only respect that.’

In July, the sisters both posted tributes to each other while celebrating their 46th birthdays.

Tamera shared a clip of the twins from Tia and Tamera, writing: ‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY @tiamowry, I love you so much! I’ve been seeing this hilarious clip all over my timeline, so I thought it would be the perfect throwback for our special day.

‘Hope it brings a smile to your face like it does mine! Here’s to more laughter and memories together.’

Tia shared a series of pictures alongside her sister, writing in the caption: ‘It’s Cancer season!! I want to take this moment to cherish my sister and wish an early happy birthday to Tamera.

‘Having you by my side as we’ve grown and evolved has been an incredible blessing. Not everyone can say they’ve had someone with them through every major milestone in life.

‘From growing up together and getting our big break to navigating the teenage years, and motherhood, I’m immensely grateful to have shared this journey with you.’

She ended the post by saying: ‘Here’s to celebrating all the beautiful memories and milestones we’ve experienced and built together. We’re turning 46! How did we get here??’
