<p id=”par-2_43″>Viní Jr. was born on July 12, 2000, in São Gonçalo, Brazil, to his mother, Fernanda “Tatiana,” and his father, José Paixao de Oliveira. Their son began playing soccer when he was just 6 years old and joined the Flamengo youth academy. </p>

<p id=”par-4_37″>Viní made his professional debut for Flamengo in 2016, and the following year, Real Madrid agreed to sign the teenage sensation. Because of FIFA regulations, he remained with Flamengo until turning 18 before officially moving to Spain.</p>
<p id=”par-5_72″>Both of Viní’s parents are Afro-Brazilian. Brazil has one of the world’s most diverse populations, with ancestry that includes African, European, Indigenous, and other ethnic groups. Tatiana is of Congolese descent. In 2024, as part of the “Golden Roots” campaign, Viní did a DNA test to find out more about his African roots. The results revealed Cameroonian heritage on his father’s side, something neither Viní Jr. nor his dad were aware of. </p>
<p id=”par-6_58″>Their roots trace back to the Tikar tribe in Cameroon. The group settled in the Grasslands of Bamenda, also known as the Bamenda Grassfields or Western High Plateau, in the Northwest region of the country. The tribe has been key to local agricultural production and the preservation of traditions such as blacksmithing, an art exclusive to their community.</p>
