<p id=”par-3_37″>It’s been reported that <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/royal-commentator-says-husbands-should-not-prince-william-kate-middleton-public-avoid-tension.html/”>Prince William’s wife</a> has been invited to the gala but refused to attend the event, even though her <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/can-remember-when-princess-diana-died.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>late mother-in-law, Princess Diana</a>, and William’s cousin, Princess Beatrice, both did in the past. </p>

<p id=”par-4_35″>According to <a href=”https://robshuter.substack.com/p/exclusive-kate-middleton-declines” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Rob Shutter’s Substack</a>, a source claimed that Kate is the one person <a href=”https://www.cheatsheet.com/news/many-kids-does-anna-wintour-net-worth.html/” target=”_blank” rel=”noreferrer noopener”>Anna Wintour</a> really wants to RSVP “yes” to the gala and that the fashion editor personally asked the princess to attend.</p>
<p id=”par-5_32″>“Kate is the one celebrity Anna wants and cannot get,” the insider shared. “That is the obsession. This was never only about Diana. Anna wanted Kate because Kate is the ultimate prize.”</p>
<p id=”par-6_70″>Another source backed that up, saying that Wintour even tried to get King Charles and Queen Camilla to convince Kate to attend, and that “Kate understood exactly what was being asked. This was not simply an invitation. It was an attempt to make her the defining image of the night–and she had no interest in playing that role. She was never going to turn herself into a Met Gala moment.”</p>
