Will Smith has debuted a brand new look while attending the E1 Series Monaco Grand Prix.
The Fresh Prince of Bel Air star was at the all-electric boat-racing tournament to support Westbrook Racing by Visit Angola — the team he owns — in the competition.
During the event, Will was spotted with a completely shaved head, having sported a closely cropped buzz cut for decades.
The 57-year-old’s fresh, clean-cut transformation filtered through to his wardrobe, too.
Posing on a yacht with big names in both the E1 industry and Monaco (we’re talking E1 founder and chairman Alejandro Agag and the microstate’s Prince Albert), Will donned a crisp white T-shirt beneath a short-sleeved crochet cardigan, complete with brown and black striped detailing.
The actor added a pair of black drawstring trousers, frameless sunglasses, and a leather-strapped watch as he grinned for the photo.
However, one appearance staple that did remain was Will’s signature neatly trimmed goatee — something he’s rocked since his 90s Fresh Prince days.
Will actually gave fans a sneak peek of his new look the day before, when he was snapped on a balcony overlooking the sparkling Mediterranean Sea.
The dad of three kept things more casual as he promoted his Westbrook Racing team, which announced a title partnership with Visit Angola, the national tourism authority of Angola, earlier this year.
Will donned the team’s red polo shirt and black trousers.
Like many huge movie stars, fans later learned that Will’s new hairstyle was not actually a personal choice, admitting that he shaved it for an upcoming role.
Taking to Instagram to share a dump of E1 content, Will dropped a video of him testing a microphone.
Over the footage, he penned: ‘Shaved my head for my next movie,’ and joked that he was ‘tryna get some Monaco sun on it.’
Will is set to star in the upcoming action-thriller titled Supermax for Amazon MGM Studios.
While a release date is yet to be announced, it follows two FBI agents —including Will as a character named Rex — who are investigating a murder inside the world’s most secure prison.
Supermax will be Will’s first film since 2024’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, which marked his first major movie since he slapped Chris Rock on stage at the 2022 Academy Awards.
Fans will remember that, during the Oscars, Chris made an unscripted joke about Will’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and her shaved head. Which, many will also know, is the result of the medical condition alopecia.
Jada first revealed that she had alopecia in 2018, and described how experiencing sudden hair loss was ‘terrifying.’
She has documented her experience of the condition in her memoir Worthy, on her show Red Table Talk — which she hosts alongside her daughter Willow and mother Adrienne— and on social media.
Will Smith isn’t the only celebrity in recent times to debut a shaved-head look.
At the beginning of July, John Cena revealed he recently underwent a second hair transplant after admitting that fan scrutiny ‘pushed’ him to get the procedure.
The former wrestler-turned-actor has been very open about his hair-loss struggles, after sharing that his fans encouraged him to take his health seriously.
The 49-year-old took to Facebook to announce ’round 2 of FUE Treatment,’ otherwise known as Follicular Unit Excision.
The minimally invasive procedure is a hair transplant where individual hair follicles are extracted from a donor area — typically the back of the head — and implanted into balding or thinning areas.
In the image, he showed off his bald look ahead of the surgery.
It’s thought that the WWE veteran shaved his head before the procedure to allow his surgeon better visibility to the parts of his scalp that needed the most attention.
