Woody Allen’s Ex Mia Farrow Shares Loving Tribute for Diane Keaton

Woody Allen’s Ex Mia Farrow Honors Diane Keaton

Mia Farrow is remembering Diane Keaton with love and admiration, as the two women are forever linked through their shared history with filmmaker Woody Allen. The “Rosemary’s Baby” star shared a touching message for her longtime friend on Instagram following the news of Keaton’s death at 79.

“She was an absolutely wonderful actress and a rare and fascinating person,” Farrow, 80, wrote. “Thoughts with her children and sisters. Rest in peace, Diane.”

A spokesperson for Keaton confirmed that the beloved actress breathed her last in California on Saturday, October 11, and requested privacy on behalf of her family. Keaton and acclaimed filmmaker Woody Allen were romantically involved in the 1970s and shared a deep creative bond that shaped both of their careers.

The duo collaborated on several beloved films, including “Love and Death,” “Sleeper,” “Manhattan,” and “Play It Again, Sam.” In 1977, Keaton won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Allen’s “Annie Hall.”

Although their romance eventually ended, Keaton and Allen remained close friends and collaborators for decades. She later dated fellow Hollywood legends Al Pacino and Warren Beatty but never married, often saying that independence suited her best.

After news of Keaton’s passing, Allen was reportedly heartbroken. A source told People that the 89-year-old director was “extremely distraught and surprised and upset,” adding that her death made him reflect on his own mortality. “He appreciated her very much,” the insider said. “They had remained friends, and he was surprised by the news. Nobody seemed to know about her health.”

Farrow, who also worked closely with Allen throughout the 1980s, expressed her admiration for Keaton once more in her post, highlighting the mutual respect that remained between them. Despite their different paths, Farrow and Keaton shared an unspoken connection that is reflected in her tribute.

Remembering a Hollywood Icon

Keaton’s death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from across Hollywood. Goldie Hawn, her “First Wives Club” co-star, shared an emotional message on Instagram, writing, “Diane, we aren’t ready to lose you. You’ve left us with a trail of fairy dust, filled with particles of light and memories beyond imagination. You never liked praise, but there was and will be no one like you.”

Jane Fonda, Keaton’s “Book Club” co-star, echoed that sentiment, calling her “a spark of life and light.” “She was always giggling at her own foibles, being limitlessly creative in her acting, her wardrobe, her books, her homes, and her world view,” Fonda wrote. “Unique is what she was.”

Over nearly six decades in Hollywood, Keaton built one of the most admired careers in film history. She brought authenticity, humor, and heart to roles in “The Godfather,” “Annie Hall,” “Something’s Gotta Give,” and “The Family Stone.” Her final film, “Summer Camp,” released in 2024, marked the close of a remarkable journey.

As tributes continue to pour in, Keaton is being remembered not only for her iconic performances but for her warmth, originality, and courage to live life her own way. “She was one of a kind,” Farrow’s tribute reminded the world. “A rare and fascinating person.”

The Oscar-winning actress is survived by her two children, Dexter and Duke, whom she adopted in her 50s.
