Have you ever had that nightmare where you’re giving a speech and something is on your face but you have no idea until after? Robbie Williams just lived that nightmare.
As a big football fan, he opened the Men’s World Cup Final by singing Desire alongside Laura Pausini and Nicole Scherzinger.
While his bedazzled blue tracksuit has caused a stir, it’s his appearance later on as he gave a post-match debrief, that’s really stuck with viewers.
The Angels icon popped up on the German channel Magenta Sport and ended up accidentally spitting a small white object onto his microphone.
Noticing the faux pas, he casually picked it off the microphone and continued chatting about the match.
Unfortunately, Robbie then touched his hair, leaving the white object stuck to his forehead in a mortifying moment.
A video that’s garnered over a million views on Instagram claims it fell out of his nose.
However, other viewers have slowed the clip down to show that it came from his mouth, and so was likely mint or gum.
On that viral post, Josh Dewar commented: ‘Need to check your eyes lad lol from his mouth you stupid muppet😂😂 nice try though.’
‘Clearly comes out of his mouth,’ added Kye T as Nina agreed: ‘You need glasses 🤓 to see it fell from his mouth 🙄🙄.’
It’s been assumed by most that it was a mint of some kind, with Michael Buble defending the singer in a now-deleted comment, which read: ‘Was a mint saved it for later lol’.
Meanwhile, Alma Welte joked: ‘He just had Styrofoam for lunch, he’s on a diet.’
As Steven Nadeau added: ‘Whatever it is and wherever it came from, it’s on his forehead! 😂😂😂.
On X, AwayDayLadsFS wrote: ‘Poor Robbie Williams. Had a stinker on live German tv.’
As clips of the match were played, a member of the crew or Robbie’s team interrupted the chat, to which he replied: ‘We’re live!’
Another voice can be vaguely heard replying, to which he says ‘Oh right, okay’, and when the video cuts back, the white substance is gone.
Ever professional, his fellow presenters didn’t mention the dot and managed to stifle any chuckles as he spoke.
In the chat, Robbie had enthusiastically shared how this had been his favourite World Cup as his eldest daughter had really got into the game.
Despite England not making it all the way, the Rocket singer called it a ‘massive bonding’ experience with Teddy, 13.
After being prompted by a presenter, he promised to return for the Women’s World Cup next year, which is set to be held in Brazil.
Hopefully, next time he ditches the mint before going on live TV.
