X Factor star Jaymi Hensley has shared a heartbreaking tribute to his late fiancée as he prepares to lay his partner to rest on what would have been their wedding day.

Jaymi, 34, competed in the 2012 series of the reality singing competition as part of boyband Union J, alongside JJ Hamblett, George Shelley, Casey Johnson, and Josh Cuthbert.

The Beautiful Lie singer started a relationship with partner Oliver Marmon before competing on the X Factor, with the couple together since they were teenagers.

Marmon died in August at just 33 years of age, after he fell from a third-floor hotel window in Wellingborough, near Northampton.

Emergency services were called to the hotel on August 11 at around 11:30pm, where Marmon was pronounced dead in the early hours of the Monday morning.

The happy couple were set to be married on September 24, but instead, that date will now mark the occasion of Marmon’s funeral.

Ahead of the service, Jaymi shared an emotional statement on Instagram, paying tribute to the man he’d had by his side for more than a decade.

A statement read: ‘This is the first photo from the night I met you! Tomorrow should have been the happiest day of our lives – we should have been saying our vows and saying I do, but instead it will be the day I lay you to rest.’

Jaymi continued: ‘I will never be ready, I miss you so much! I love you more than I’ve ever loved any one.’

Earlier this month, the police declared that an inquest would start in order to better understand the exact circumstances of Marmon’s untimely death.

In the days after the incident, police initially opened a murder investigation but later stated that Marmon’s passing was not deemed to be suspicious.

However, an investigation is still ongoing, with the results not expected until March 2025, leaving Jaymi and Marmon’s family waiting for six months.

Jaymi updated fans on what happened when he shared a photo of him and Marmon on holiday together, saying: ‘I’d give anything to spend a lifetime in your sapphire eyes.’

After Jaymi announced the news on Instagram, friends and fans of the Union J singer flocked to his comments to let him know they would be supporting him over the coming months and years.

@WLydiaTT88 said: ‘Olly will always be there right by your side and in your heart guiding your every step, darling. Every day will bring challenges, but with the love and support you have, and the memories, you will get through.’

Meanwhile, @Karis05xx said: ‘So sorry for your loss Jaymi. Olly will forever be looking down on you and celebrating all achievements and success with you.

‘He will forever be proud of everything you’ve done and everything you do. Much love, and sending all my thoughts and love to you and your family.’

Jaymi’s boyband Union J disbanded in 2019 after initially forming seven years earlier, with Jaymi saying it was no longer healthy for him to remain as part of the group.

‘It all just came to a head with me, emotionally and mentally, and I had to do something solely for myself. I stand by my decision,’ he said at the time.
