If you had plans to watch Paddington on New Year’s Day as a little hungover treat, you may want to think again…

Paddington is a 2014 live-action classic which stars Ben Whishaw as the voice of the title character, along with Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, and Peter Capaldi.

Nicole Kidman also stars as the villain of the story, in one of her best and most deranged roles of all time.

The movie tells the story of Paddington, a rare unknown type of bear who makes his way to London from darkest Peru.

In London, Paddington quickly becomes pals with the Browns, a family who foster the bear and help him to adjust to his new life in the big city.

The story is a heartwarming tale about immigration, friendship, and kindness and is widely regarded as one of the best children’s franchise films in recent history, but you might want to get watching quickly!

It looks like Paddington, which has become a non-festive Christmas favourite, is only going to be on Netflix for a couple more weeks.

So if you were hoping for some festive, marmalade-loving fun, you’d better get your bootstraps on and get watching before December 31.

Fortunately, Paddington 2 (which is widely regarded as the superior film in the franchise) will be staying put, and the third film in the franchise, Paddington in Peru, isn’t leaving the streamer until January 7.

Paddington has a 96% ranking on Rotten Tomatoes, while the second film has an almost perfect score of 99% and the third has a score of 93%.

Additionally, the film was also recently adapted into a successful on-stage musical – so the story will be showing in London if you can snap up tickets!

Fortunately, the rest of the franchise will be staying firmly in place for those hoping to watch some wizarding magic in the new year.
