A 12-year-old Palatine girl was fatally struck by a minivan Monday in Schaumburg, authorities said.
Angela Guan, a student at Plum Grove Middle School in Rolling Meadows, received medical attention at the scene and was transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, where she was pronounced dead at 5:42 p.m., authorities say.
The girl was with other young friends when she was struck by a dark blue minivan about 5:08 p.m. at Algonquin Road and Thoreau Drive Schaumburg Police Cmdr. Christy Lindhurst said.
The driver stopped immediately, and none of the other children were injured.
Schaumburg police are investigating the circumstances of the collision, which Lindhurst described as “a horrific event.”
