2 men killed hours apart on South and West Sides

Two men were fatally shot about two hours apart Monday night — one in East Garfield Park, the other in Englewood.

Around 11:40 p.m., a 26-year-old man was found unresponsive in the 7400 block of South Morgan Street, Chicago police said. The man had suffered a gunshot wound to the left shoulder, police said.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

About two hours earlier, a 27-year-old man was standing in front of a residential building in the 3600 block of West Congress Parkway when three gunmen approached and opened fire, officials said.

The man was shot multiple times and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he died, police said.

Their names have not been made public.

Area detectives were investigating both homicides.
