A Wednesday autopsy found that a 2-year-old boy died of an “apparent homicide” after being found unresponsive in a home in southwest suburban Frankfort.
The cause of the boy’s death and his name were not released.
Officers were called to the home in the 22700 block of Brook Stone Court around 4 p.m. Tuesday, said the Frankfort Police Department. Inside, they found the toddler unresponsive and began CPR.
The boy, of Frankfort, was pronounced dead at 4:48 p.m. Tuesday at Silver Cross. Hospital in New Lenox, the result of an apparent homicide, according to the Will County coroner’s office.
Police said the child’s mother also was inside the home. She was trying to harm herself, and was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Frankfort police and the the Will Grundy Major Crimes task force are investigating.
