Rep. Laura Friedman, D-Glendale, was leading the way in this seven-person contest to represent California’s 30th Congressional District, based on partial results for the primary election posted around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday by the Los Angeles County Registrar of Voters.
Besides Friedman, who is seeking a second term, other Democrats in the race include: Pini Herman, a demographer and community organizer; Joel Lava, an advertising creative director; and Cameron Tennyson, a movie studio clerk.
Dennis Feitosa, an entrepreneur and podcaster, and Scott Meyers, an attorney and small business owner, are running as Republicans, while aerospace entrepreneur John Armenian is a “no party preference” candidate.
As of the time of the registrar’s 10:17 p.m. update, Friedman had 52% of the vote, followed by Meyers at 20% and Tennyson at 10%. The other candidates had less than 10% each.

California’s 30th Congressional District includes Burbank, Glendale and West Hollywood. And as a result of redistricting, which California voters approved in a special election last year, the district picked up an area north of the San Fernando Valley, including Acton and Agua Dulce.
This district is a Democratic stronghold, with 52.23% of registered voters identifying as Democrats. Another 17.78% of voters are registered as Republican and 23.64% have no party preference.
The top two vote-getters in the primary election, regardless of party affiliation, will face off in the November general election.
Vote tallies will be updated throughout the night and in the coming days as more ballots are counted, so check back periodically for the latest information.
