21-year-old woman hits 130 mph in Highway 101 police chase that ends in rollover crash, arrest

A Santa Rosa woman was arrested early Thursday after police said she led officers on a multi-city chase that reached 130 mph and ended when her car flipped onto its roof.

California Highway Patrol officers first saw a black Dodge Charger around 2:43 a.m. speeding north on Highway 101 near Steele Lane with its headlights off, Officer David deRutte said. The driver was going more than 100 mph. Officers stopped chasing the car two exits later because they said the speeds were too dangerous.

A few minutes later, a Sonoma County sheriff’s deputy saw the Dodge racing at about 130 mph near Airport Boulevard and followed it into Healdsburg before losing sight of it downtown, sheriff’s Sgt. Juan Valencia said. About 15 minutes passed before deputies spotted it again and chased it onto southbound Highway 101.

The driver — identified as 21-year-old Adalynn Carrasco — tried to exit at Hopper Lane but lost control. The Dodge hit a guardrail and rolled onto its roof, Valencia said.

CHP officers arrived at the crash and said Carrasco showed signs of being under the influence. They said the rollover was caused by her speed and suspected intoxication.

Carrasco was medically evaluated and then booked into the Sonoma County jail. She was held on suspicion of two misdemeanor DUI charges, four felony charges of evading an officer, driving with a suspended license from a previous DUI and violating her probation from a 2024 DUI case, for which a warrant had been issued.

Later Thursday, prosecutors filed one felony county connected to the sheriff’s chase. Charges for the earlier CHP encounter and rollover had not yet been filed. Carrasco remained in jail on $55,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court Friday morning.
