Whether you’re an Amazon Prime member or not, the upcoming launch of a competitor service like Walmart+ changes the landscape quite a bit for online shopping. For $98 per year or $12.95 monthly, Walmart+ members receive benefits to rival those of Prime members. Is it worth it to subscribe to the service? Between the two, which will better fit your needs? Walmart offers a free 15-day trial for you to explore, but if you want answers before the September 15 release, we’ve also compiled the three main benefits that Walmart+ offers upon sign-up.

Unlimited free delivery

The new face of the previously-titled Delivery Unlimited service offered by Walmart, this feature offers exactly what it’s named for: unlimited free delivery. A wide array of product categories are covered under the umbrella of unlimited free delivery, “from tech and toys to household essentials and groceries,” all available as soon as the same day you order, or with one-hour pickup. However, eligibility is variable; you’ll have to enter your address to find out if you even qualify for service.

Just like its predecessor, Delivery Unlimited, Walmart+’s unlimited free delivery service requires no minimum purchase value, nor does it throttle your delivery frequency. The feature allows members to order as often as they please, without paying a delivery fee outside of the yearly or monthly flat membership rate. Previous subscribers of the Delivery Unlimited service will automatically be enrolled in Walmart+.

Scan & Go

A benefit intended to introduce touch-free checkout, the Scan & Go feature allows members to use the Walmart App to scan items in-store and check out from their smartphones. This benefit, which may initially seem like more of a chore than a service, allows you to not only maintain social distance, but also to skip the lines that usually plague the Walmart checkout process.

Fuel discounts

Primarily benefiting members with locations near them, the final advantage of Walmart+ is the opportunity to save up to 5 cents per gallon when you fill up at any Walmart, Murphy USA, or Murphy Express fuel station. Sam’s Club fuel stations are not yet included in the discount coverage, though the company states that they will be soon.
