4 injured in police-pursuit crash of armed robbery suspects fleeing Glendale smoke shop

Four men suspected of robbing a Glendale smoke shop at gunpoint were injured when a police pursuit ended in a crash just after 1 a.m. on Thursday, August 7.

An armed robbery was reported at 818 Smoke Shop at 838 West Glenoaks Boulevard, with the victim describing the suspects as four men dressed in all black, fleeing the area in a black car, Glendale Police said.

The store was robbed of merchandise valued at hundreds of dollars.

A car matching the description of the vehicle reported at the scene of the robbery was spotted by police, speeding and running red lights near Monterey Road and Geneva Street. The driver did not comply with a traffic stop initiated by Glendale Police and a pursuit began.

Police chased the driver until the car crashed into a parked car near Jackson Street and Lexington Drive, ejecting one of the men. One of the suspects tried to run away on foot, but was apprehended by police. The remaining two suspects stayed in the car. Officers found a firearm at the scene of the collision.

Police determined that the car the suspect fled in had been reported as stolen.

“All four suspects sustained significant injuries from the traffic collision and were transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena,” Glendale Police confirmed.
