8 concerts and comedy shows coming to Southern California casinos in September

September is one of the last months before entering the holiday season, and Southern California casinos have a lineup of entertainment ready before all the spooky and cheery celebrations. This month is stacked with some of rock’s best acts, along with Mexican regional music and standup comedy.

Régulo Caro and Noel Torres

Régulo Caro produces regional Mexican music that fuses traditional sounds of the genre with the high energy of rock and pop. Noel Torres has also been innovative in the Norteño-Banda movement that takes the best of both genres to produce a unique blend of music that honors the roots of each sound.

David Lee Roth

One of the most iconic hair metal frontmen is hosting a solo show that will take you back in time to where spandex and hairspray reigned supreme. David Lee Roth, the original voice of Van Halen, defined an era with hits like “Jump,” “Panama,” and “Runnin’ with the Devil.” His high-energy performances and unique vocal style took Van Halen to the top as one of the biggest rock bands of the ’80s.

Lupillo Rivera

Lupillo Rivera is a Mexican-American singer and songwriter known for his music’s celebration of Mexico’s cultural heritage. The Grammy Award-winning artist has earned his place as one of the innovators in banda. His talent landed him alongside Fuerza Regida’s Jesús Ortiz Paz (JOP) and Gabito Ballesteros on the new reality show “Pase a la Fama,” on Telemundo, where the artists search for the next great regional Mexican band and serve as mentors.

Caifanes

When it comes to Mexican rock, few bands have earned the honor of being covered by the likes of MetallicaCaifanes were first influenced by bands like the Cure and King Crimson, which would lead them to inspire goth rockers in Latin America in the late ’80s and ’90s. The band has grown into a global act and is one you don’t want to miss.

Cedric the Entertainer

Cedric the Entertainer has earned his moniker as a stand-up comedian, actor and television host known for co-starring with Steve Harvey on the sitcom “The Steve Harvey Show.” In addition to the roles he’s played on television, he will also be taking up time to return to Broadway and star in a new production of August Wilson’s “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone.” The play has a serious tone, telling the story of a man grappling with the trauma of enslavement after years in captivity. However, Cedric has expressed openness to finding humorous breaks in the production.

Marlon Wayans

Part of the famous Wayans family, Marlon Wayans is an actor, comedian, writer and producer, who first appeared on television and film in the late ’90s and early ’00s. He’s appeared on television shows like “The Wayans Bros.” and in “Scary Movie” and “White Chicks.” He’s more recently been dabbling in horror and will star in the Jordon Peele-produced film, “Him.”

Foreigner

Foreigner, the rock band part of the 2024 class inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, is gearing up to celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. The group will reunite with original lead singer Lou Gramm for the Foreigner 4 Deluxe Tour in December and will also be expanding and reissuing their iconic 1981 album, “4,” on Sept. 12.

Green Day

One of the most prolific alternative punk rock bands is coming to Highland for a more intimate show and taking a break from their stadium tours. Green Day has come a long way from being the up-and-coming face of punk rock in the late ’80s out of Berkeley and diving headfirst into mainstream success with albums like “Dookie” and “American Idiot.” Last year, the group released their 14th studio album, “Saviors,” which earned three Grammy Award nominations, flexing their staying power.
