The wreck happened about 5:10 a.m. in the eastbound direction just west of the Railroad Avenue exit. According to the CHP, it involved at least three vehicles and possible more.
The crash blocked all lanes of the highway, and the CHP diverted traffic off the highway at the Bailey Road exit, about three miles west of the crash site. They also closed the Bailey Road on-ramp to the highway.
The CHP did not have an estimate for how long the highway would be shut down.
No other information was available immediately.
