An early morning call of a bomb threat triggered an hours-long search at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena on Friday, Aug. 7, before the property was declared safe at about 9 a.m., authorities said.
A group that is known to law enforcement called in the threat to the hospital around 5:40 a.m., said Lisa Derderian, a city spokesperson.
Police and fire personnel responded, and ambulance traffic was diverted from the hospital to other hospitals.
A search with a specialized dog was done, she said. Nothing was found and operations returned to normal.
“it’s unfortunate that these groups … call in threats and cost (others) thousands of dollars,” Derderian said.
