Arrest made in San Leandro’s first homicide of 2025

SAN LEANDRO – Authorities on Tuesday announced an arrest in San Leandro’s first homicide of the year.

The victim – identified as 47-year-old San Leandro resident Ryan Christie – was found with a single gunshot wound to his back on the morning of June 14 in the area of Euclid Avenue and East 14th Street. His pet dog was still leashed to his hand.

Medical personnel pronounced Christie dead at the scene. His dog, an Akita, was not injured.

An investigation determined Christie had been shot around 11 p.m. the previous night.

Detectives went on to identify 49-year-old San Leandro resident Andre Williams as a suspect in the fatal shooting, according to the San Leandro Police Department.

Williams was arrested on July 7 at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Pavilion Parkway in Tracy. Police said search warrants were also served at two residences, where additional evidence was recovered.

On Tuesday, the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged Williams with murder.

Christie was married and had children, according to an online fundraiser set up to help his family. As of Tuesday evening, $13,150 of the $16,000 goal had been raised.

While charges have been filed, police are still asking anyone with information related to the case to contact Detective Sgt. J. Vincent at 510-577-3315 or the tip line at 510-577-3278.
