Police are warning residents after two women were the victims of attempted sexual assaults in Logan Square.
The attacks occurred Friday in the early morning hours — the first around 2:32 a.m. in the 2600 block of North Sawyer Avenue and the second at 3:23 a.m. in the 3100 block of West Schubert Avenue, police said.
In both assaults, the man approached the victims from behind on the sidewalk and physically battered and restrained them using his hands, police said. The man used verbal threats and physical force in the attacks.
Both victims were able to break free when their screams alerted nearby residents, who came to their aid and caused the man to run away, police said.
The man is described as wearing dark gray jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt with green and black coloring at the bottom; he also wore a gray or black ski mask, police said. He is between 5 feet 9 and 5 feet 10, has a medium to dark complexion and a thin build and weighs between 105 and 160 pounds.
