Avalanche watch for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area until Sunday morning

An avalanche watch was reported by the National Weather Service on Saturday at 6:21 a.m. in effect until Sunday Jan. 4, at 7 a.m. for the Greater Lake Tahoe Area.

According to the NWS Reno NV, “The avalanche danger is expected to rise to HIGH through today. Dangerous avalanche conditions are expected to continue into tomorrow.”

“Heavy snowfall combined with strong to extreme winds will likely create widespread areas of unstable snow,” the NWS said.
