A baby girl died after being found with multiple stab wounds, police have said.
Paramedics rushed to the scene in a block of flats in Hollywell Heights, Sheffield after reports of a concern for the safety of a newborn baby on Sunday morning.
A property on Holywell Heights was searched and the baby was located.
An investigation has been ongoing to secure justice for the baby girl and yesterday (Monday 31 August) a forensic post-mortem determined that the baby died as a result of stab wounds.
DCI Tom Woodward said: ‘We recognise this is deeply distressing for those who would have loved to have a chance to love this baby girl, for the emergency services who responded and for the community who will inevitably be shocked by this incident.

A total of seven people aged between 15 and 38 were arrested on suspicion of murder.
Two people, aged 26 and 37, have since been bailed.
