OAKLAND — BART suffered major delays Monday night after a person died on a train in Oakland, officials said.
The incident was reported around 6:15 p.m. at the West Oakland station.
The Alameda County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, said BART spokesperson Michelle Robertson, adding that foul play is not suspected in the death.
No other details about the incident were released.
Robertson said blue- and green-line trains were turned back at the MacArthur station, while others were single-tracked around the affected train until it was taken out of service.
The transit agency announced just before 7:30 p.m. that it was recovering from the delays.
