In search of higher ground, a black bear climbed an electrical pole off U.S. 36 near Lyons on Monday, prompting Colorado Parks and Wildlife officers to respond to the area.

CPW spokeswoman Kara Van Hoose said while officers watched, the bear came down on its own and climbed a nearby tree.
Van Hoose said no other reports have been made, which is a good sign as it means the bear likely moved on during the night.
