Bears’ Caleb Williams needs to make some improvements. Where should he start?

What’s the biggest thing about Bears quarterback Caleb Williams that needs to get better?

That question led off this week’s “Polling Place,” your home for Sun-Times sports polls on the social platform X.

“It’s his inability to read the field and get vertical as Ben Johnson needs him to do,” @TIQBup commented.

“He needs to read the defense and see the field,” @rynelancer wrote. “Other than that, doing just great.”

Next, we asked which Cubs starting pitcher — Matthew Boyd, Cade Horton or Shota Imanaga — should get the ball for Game 1 of the playoffs.

“I’d give it to Boyd and say Horton for Game 3,” offered @dan_starzec.

Imanaga “is the veteran you need,” according to @RonaldVoigt4. Still, it was Horton receiving the most votes.

Last, we asked if Sky star Angel Reese is good enough to be built around as a No. 1 player.

“Ignore the noise,” @DadsThumb replied. “She’s already one of the best players in the W in only her second season, with room and desire to improve.”

But @BigKen472 wondered, “The real question is what could the Sky possibly do in the next 24 months to convince her to stay?”

On to the polls:

Poll No. 1: What’s the biggest thing about Bears quarterback Caleb Williams that needs to get better?

Upshot: Maybe @ta11131262 has a point, writing, “I’ll say ‘other,’ because he has A LOT to fix, and no one thing is more important than the others.”

Poll No. 2: Which Cubs starter would you give the ball to for Game 1 of the playoffs?

Upshot: If Horton’s season history holds, he’ll keep the Cubs right in it for a couple of turns through the batting order, at which point manager Craig Counsell will go get him. Are we sure we want the Cubs bullpen handling things from the sixth inning on?

Poll No. 3: Is Sky forward Angel Reese good enough that the team should build around her as its No. 1 player?

Upshot: The Sky are 23-51 since drafting Reese and Kamilla Cardoso. Reese is determined and with a high motor — and everyone knows she’s a rebounding machine — but the Sky might want to land an even bigger fish if they’re serious about getting anywhere.
