The Bears likely will begin training camp without several key players.
They put linebacker T.J. Edwards on the Non-Football Injury list and nickel cornerback Kyler Gordon and defensive end Shemar Turner on the Physically Unable to Perform list.
Any of them could be activated by the time the Bears hold their first practice Wednesday, and teams sometimes use those lists as a precaution. Rookies and quarterbacks reported Saturday.
Edwards is coming back from a broken leg he suffered late last season and is expected to be ready relatively soon.
Turner’s situation is less clear coming off a torn ACL midway through last season, and Gordon was dealing with a soft-tissue issue during Organized Team Activities and minicamp. Gordon’s injury is concerning after he missed 14 games because of three injuries last season.
The Bears also put left tackle Ozzy Trapilo, who likely will miss most or all of the season with a knee injury on PUP, along with rookie linebacker Keyshawn Elliott and backup linebacker Noah Sewell.
