One week after Tyrique Stevenson acquitted himself well at the sight of his infamous mistake, the Bears cornerback left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury.
Stevenson was hurt in the second quarter against the Saints. In the third quarter, the team said he was doubtful to return.
He had one pass deflection and three tackles in the first half against a Saints offense that didn’t score until the final minute of the frame. On Monday, he allowed two catches for 41 yards at Northwest Stadium, where last year he had his back turned to the snap during what would become the infamous Fail Mary finish.
Nick McCloud took Stevenson’s place alongside Nahshon Wright and slot cornerback Kyler Gordon. The Bears are already playing without Jaylon Johnson, who had groin surgery after missing most of training camp and the first game with the injury. The Bears put him on injured reserve. It’s unclear if he’ll return this season.
